How to Measure Your Head for Chemotherapy Hair Loss

How to Measure Your Head for Chemotherapy Hair Loss

The best way to measure your head is to use a measuring tape and measure around your hairline, starting at the forehead, around the ears, nape of the neck and back up again.

However, if you measure horizontally around the largest part of your head, it's usually the same.

When you come to your ears, measure next to your head, not over the ears. A small adult head measures 20 inches to 21.5 inches. Medium is 22 to 23” and a large head size is 23”-24”, extra large, 25”.

These measurements are approximate, head shapes vary. As does comfort preference. Some women like a snug fit and some prefer a loose fit.

If your hairline grows extra low in the back, measure at the base of the skull. You might want to measure several times to see if you get the same result.

Our hat and headscarf descriptions include head sizes based on this way of measuring.

I would appreciate getting a catalog. My hair is so thin and I have bald patches. I hate wearing a boys cap but have been unable to find one designed for small heads.
